Help us ‘Blow Out Cancer” during Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Nov. 3, 2011 (Tampa, Fla.) – The facts aren’t pretty. According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 16 women will develop lung cancer in her lifetime – whether she smoked or not. Non-smokers account for up to 15 percent of lung cancer cases each year. That’s why, in honor of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, CyberKnife Centers of Tampa Bay is teaming up with Blo Hair Studio and Color Cafe to “Blow Out Cancer” this November.

“Lung cancer has affected me personally. Five years ago this month, my father passed away from the disease,” Linda Knipp, Owner and Business Manager of Blo Hair Studio and Color Cafe. “Being a part of this fundraiser is important not just for my family, but for the thousands of families affected by a cancer diagnosis each year.”

Just book a cut, color and style at Blo Hair Studio and Color Cafe in Lutz, Florida and 15 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society. The goal is to raise $2,000 in the month of November to help find a cure through research.

“Raising money to find a cure for lung cancer is crucial for the 106,070 mothers, wives, sisters and daughters who will be diagnosed this year, according to the American Cancer Society” explains     Kevin Mayeski, Director of CyberKnife Centers of Tampa Bay.

CyberKnife Centers of Tampa Bay have seen 66 lung cancer patients in 2011 alone. Help bring that number to zero and “Blow Out Cancer” this November.
